Excursion Possibilities from Villa Tunjung…
Relaxed snorkelling from the boat in the warm, clear waters of the Bali sea, with coral heads close to the surface, and brightly-coloured tropical fish, starfish and other marine life.
Visit some of the ancient temples where it is sometimes still possible to witness ceremonies, or just spend some time in peace and contemplation or meditation.
Make guided or unguided walks in the direct neighbourhood, through the sawas, rainforest, villages, etc.
Pay a visit to the nearby Buddhist temple.
Make early-morning trips through the neighbourhood on the mountain bikes while the air is still very cool and physical activity is comfortable – there are many different routes possible.
Spend an invigorating couple of hours by taking a spa bath in the sulphur-rich waters of the nearby holy hot-water springs at Banjar.
Rise and shine early to experience a tropical sunrise over the island from the local boat, followed directly by a visit to the frolicking dolphin shoals offshore (followed by private breakfast on a secluded beach).
Rise early and jump on the Yamaha and follow your nose – twisting, winding roads are a pleasure to drive on – sometimes a veritable rollercoaster (helmet always required)
Plunge into a shady, fragrant, emerald world, with various trips through the local rainforest and lakes.*
Immerse yourself in the local culture with visits to local ceremonies (almost daily), browse the local pasar (market) in Seririt, or visit some of the villagers in their homes.
Visit various waterfalls; from the busy, lively falls where you can buy souvenirs; to the peaceful, remoter falls where you can be one with nature.
Visit the former capital, Singaraja, with its colonial buildings, Chinese temple, rustic harbour, beautiful lontar-library and the busy city centre.
And if you find any other wonderful things to do then be sure to let us know about it!
*(a reasonable level of physical fitness may be required for some excursions – your butler or guide can advise and inform you, in advance, of the terrain and conditions)
To get the most out of your visit we recommend adopting the local living pattern as far as is comfortable for you. Village life begins at sunrise when the temperature is cool and the light is soft. Most locals are in bed between 9 and 10pm and there are no customary tourist diversions in the neighbourhood, such as bars, restaurants or clubs. Resist the temptation to sleep late to get your ‘well-earned’ rest. By rising early and making the most of your day you will come back feeling relaxed and fulfilled by all of the wonderful experiences you have had and all the happy, smiling, friendly people you have met; and that is truly refreshing. |
